Arriving in Astoria

We got into Astoria at about 1pm yesterday.  It was a nice drive down from Seattle.  We took Hwy 101 to get to the back roads a bit, and saw quite a bit of forests.  Luke was enjoying the hills and our rental car and we now have a new top speed on the Garmin... we'll leave it at that!  Before we left Seattle, we went to a neat doughnut shop, the Top Pot.  It was delicious!

A delicious apple fritter and raspberry filled something ;-)

We stopped to get a picture right before crossing the Astoria-Megler Bridge.  The bridge crosses the Columbia River and is about 4 miles long.  Luke was excited to almost be back!

It was pretty cloudy when we rolled into town!  After checking into our hotel, we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Bingham.  It was great to see them again!  Then it was time for a bit of sightseeing.
The wall in the background is the one the whale jumped in Free Willy!

One of the homes Luke lived in-- 92146B Wireless Rd.
After some sights, it was nap time!  I think the traveling and time change caught up with me.  After a nap, we headed to Lewis and Clark Bible Church.  This is one of the churches Luke went to out here.  It was so great to see him reconnect with friends.  We were blessed to be welcomed by so many people.  I finally have some faces to go with names!!  One of Luke's good friends invited us to his home after.  It was great to visit and meet such wonderful people.  We are looking forward to getting together again for dinner on Tuesday.  After leaving their home, it was time for dinner- a late one at that, it was almost 9pm!  We went to Fultano's Pizza.  It was delicious, although we weren't expecting that kind of tomatoes on the pizza:
